Farakka, Sep, 7 : A terrible accident took place at about 11 a.m. when a bus carrying 50 passengers collided with a lorry in full speed on the national highway at N.T.P.C. More. 3 persons were killed on the spot and 20 persons were injured. Their names and identification could not be known till reports last came in. The cause of the accident was the break neck-speed. The onlookers took the injured to the local hospital. According to the hospital sources, the condition of 5 injured passengers is critical. They were admitted for their proper treatment and rests were released after their first aid. Both the vehicles involved in the accident were damaged heavily. The driver of the bus has been arrested. The onlookers blocked the road. The police arrived about an hour latter and brought the situation under control.

90 KILLED IN A FIRE

Kolkata, Dec, 11 : A major fire broke out at AMRI Hospital in Dhakuria turned into a gas chamber on Friday. The fire was noticed at about 2p.m. Thick smoke covered the entire place. At least 90 of the 164 patients were killed and over 50 burn injury. Three hospital staff are among the dead. Patients in the ICU and ITU choked to death, still hooked on life support system. Most others died a horrible slow death as the hospital staff kept the gates locked. An electrical short-circuit is reported to be the cause of the trouble. There was no enough fire-fighting equipment. The onlookers took the injured to the nearest hospital. According to the hospital sources, the condition of 15 injured persons is critical. They were admitted for their proper treatment and rests were released after their first aid. Fire Brigade personnel from nearby fire station fought to bring the fire under control.
