Sub – Random misuse and harmful effects of mobile phones

Respected Sir,

Through the colomns of your esteemed daily 1 would like to express my grave concern regarding random misuse and harmful effects of mobile phones. The smart phone meant for easy communication and alied benefits is now used for taking a selfie and sometimes risking one’s own life. People, especially youths are found crossing busy roads or a railway level crossing plugging the headphone of the mobile phone into his ears. Mobile phones have, undoubtedly, brought the distant nearer but at the same time has made friends and relations almost aliens. Man to man communication is on the wane. People are often found busy chatting over or messaging through mobile phones. It is a definite cause of distraction for young learners from their studies. Because of the abnormal addiciton to mobile phones, the habit of reading books has been outdated. If it is not checked immediately, the younger generation will be affected seriously in terms of health and mind.

Under these circumstances, please take up your pen and write to make people aware of such bleakness through your editorial.

Yours sincerely,

Sudipta Das

Sub – The rampant use of plastic bags and cups

Respected Sir,

I would like to draw the attention of the concerned authorities against the problems of health hazards caused by the uses of plastics.

Polypacks and plastic materials have flooded the market. But nobody cares about the risks associated with the use of these products. As they are handy and come almost free, people use them indiscriminately. Use of plastics has health hazards too. It causes respiratory and skin diseases. As they are non, biodegradable, it causes adverse effects in environment too. Government has put a ban on the use of polythene goods but its use could not be curbed because of the apathy of the general public. Situation has come to such a pass that strict steps should be immediately taken. Users of polythene bags should be punished and government should take persistent efforts to create mass awareness against the use of it.

Please circulate it through your daily and impress upon all the gravity of the situation.

Yours faithfully,

Sub – Reckless driving of vehicles

Respected Sir,

May I seek your favour to allow myself to express my concern about the grave issue of reckless driving in our city through the columns of your esteemed daily?

Almost every day newspapers are coming up with the news of accidental deaths and injuries caused by reckless driving. Drivers often flout traffic signals and rules on the road. They don’t care about the speed limits. The bikers drive in high speed and often without helmets. Even the pedestrians also neglect traffic rules. Talking over mobiles while crossing the road results in a number of accidental deaths. Time has come to take stern steps to control this problem. Strict rules are to be enforced. The violaters should be punished.

Please highlight this issue in your daily and draw the attention of the authority.

Sub – Sufferings caused by antisocial activities

Respected Sir,

I want to draw your attention to the sufferings of people caused by antisocials. At present rowdyism runs rampant everywhere. The industrial pockets are the heaven of antisocials. They commit all sorts of crime. Murder, rape, arson, robbery etc. have been the order of the day. The antisocials collect subscription forcibly. They tease girls with unseemly gestures. Anyway, the rowdy nature vitiate the cultural atmosphere. The antisocials often enjoy the backing of the political leaders. They move freely as leaders bank upon their muscle power. Situation has come to such a pass that immediate actions should be taken to curb it and restore peace in the area. The unholy nexus between the politicians and the antisocials should be restrained.

I hope government should take the responsibility of restoring peace in the state.

Sub – Price-rise of essential commodities.

Respected Sir,

I would like to draw your attention to the crisis mentioned below. Price-rise and inflation have been plaguing the common man’s life for a long time. But the recent spike in prices of essential commodities has caused untold sufferings to all of us. People of low income find it difficult to make both ends meet. The condition of the day labourers, workers and beggars are beyond description. The prices of food articles, edible oil, vegetables, fish, milk, fuel and life-saving drugs are soaring up day by day. Some dishonest traders and hoarders are responsible for this abnormal escalation in prices. Added to this is the callousness of the administration. The net outcome is starvation and sufferings of the people.

This is the picture. Now I appeal to you to make an editorial note on the problem so that our government can take effective measures against the guilty.

Yours faithfully,

B. Roy

Sub – Theft of bicycle.

Respected Sir,

I like to inform you that my bicycle was stolen at about 9 a.m. yesterday when I was making a purchase at a sweet shop near the bus stand. The cycle was on its stand a few yards away from the shop and was not locked. It was beyond my imagination that a thief would dare to do the mischief in such a thickly-crowded place. None could provide me with any clue whatsoever. Mine was a Hero green model cycle with my name engraved on the frame. It was fitted with a steel basket and a carrier.

I hope that you would treat this letter as an FIR and do your best to recover my bicycle.

Thank you.

Respected Sir,

Most respectfully I beg to draw your kind attention to the miserable condition of our library. It is ill-equipped in many respects. The books which are purchased almost every year are not always systematically arranged. We find it difficult to select the books of our choice. The existing system of monthly lending hinders the purpose of the library. It will be better if we can borrow a book inrespective alternate weeks. There is dearth of reference books which we need to prepare good notes on our textual topics.

I, therefore, hope that you would kindly take steps to upgrade our school library.

Thank you.
